Amazon Web Services (AWS) has added AI agent payments to Bedrock AgentCore through Stripe-owned Privy. The launch lets AI agents hold stablecoin wallets and pay for digital services through blockchain rails without direct human approval during each transaction.
The feature launched on May 7 as part of AgentCore Payments. AWS said the first phase is being built with Privy and Coinbase. The system combines wallet infrastructure, stablecoin settlement, and AI agent tools inside Amazon Bedrock AgentCore.
The launch allows AI agents to act more directly in digital markets. They can access paid APIs, web content, MCP servers, and services from other agents. Payments are settled through blockchain-based rails.
AI Agent Payments Grow Through Stripe Privy
Privy is providing embedded wallet infrastructure for agents built on AgentCore. The company is owned by Stripe and supports wallet tools for developers. Its role gives AI agents the ability to hold and spend stablecoins inside AWS systems.
The integration also connects Stripe’s payment infrastructure with AWS’s AI platform. Developers can use these tools while building agents that need payment access. This makes AI agent payments part of the software workflow inside AgentCore.
Privy CEO Henri Stern said agents need a way to hold and spend money. He said this is needed before agents can become meaningful economic actors. He added that Privy is working with AWS to make stablecoin wallets available to AgentCore developers.
The companies also plan to support fiat payments in the future. That would expand the system beyond stablecoin use. It could also support broader commercial payment cases once added.

AWS said AgentCore helps developers build, connect, and improve AI agents at scale. The platform applies security controls at the infrastructure layer. AgentCore Payments adds transaction support to that environment.
Coinbase Brings USDC Rails to AWS AgentCore
The new feature will enable agents to purchase paid content, APIs, and external infrastructure. The system is designed for low-cost and frequent transactions. This renders AI agent settlements valuable to software systems requiring speedy settlement.
This use case may be constrained by traditional card payments. They are often based on a human cardholder. However, they can also be more expensive or take longer to settle for small automated transactions.
Coinbase is providing the stablecoin payment rails for the first version of AgentCore Payments. It is an extension of previous efforts to work with the x402 protocol and USDC infrastructure. With that previous configuration, payments were possible in real time by agents within AWS Bedrock AgentCore.
With the latest rollout, it extends that model to Privy wallet functions. Moreover, it provides developers with a more direct avenue for creating payment-capable agents. The idea behind using stablecoins for automated software activity is to use it as a settlement layer.
The launch is indicative of the increasing interest in AI agent payments in cloud, crypto, and payment infrastructure. AWS, Privy, and Coinbase are now linking AI agents with stablecoin wallets. The system brings AI agent payments into the mainstream developer platforms.
