  • Shardeum mainnet launches on April 15, with SHM token airdrop on April 13, signaling a new decentralized phase.
  • A unique autoscaling model allows Shardeum to process more transactions as more nodes join.
  • Dynamic State Sharding enhances scalability, while decentralized validators provide low fees and global network coverage.

The Shardeum network is planned to go live to the public on April 15 of 2023. Alongside the distribution of the native token SHM on April 13. In a recent X post, the highly anticipated mainnet was revealed as the protocol set the stage to reshape the decentralized network space.

Shardeum is a new generation autoscaling blockchain based on the Ethereum Virtual Machine. It claims to solve the scalability trilemma, a problem that most blockchains encounter when trying to achieve all three essentials for blockchain systems that are decentralization, scalability, and security.

Shardeum Validator Participation

On the official website of the project, the list of testnets through which the protocol was successfully tested includes the Alphanet “Liberty,” Betanet “Sphinx,” and an incentivized testnet called Atomium. A total of 171K validators were involved in these tests. Performing more than 81 million transactions to check the stability of the network.

The airdrop event is to happen just two days before the launch of the main net. Currently, the registration is open and will be closed on 13 April. The tokens will be distributed on 13 June. This is a part of the decentralized ecosystem framework of Shardeum that aims to encourage participation in the community.

According to the project blog post, Shardeum intends to solve the scalability trilemma by providing a solution that would allow for more transactions with the same level of security and decentralization. Unfortunately, many blockchains fail to achieve this equilibrium. Most of them compromising on one in an effort to optimize the other two.

The mainnet of Shardeum has brought a one-of-a-kind autoscaling model to the crypto ecosystem. The protocol escalates in its capability to process transactions with the addition of more nodes, and this makes the protocol scalable in functionality.

Improving Network Scalability

Another interesting development is the Dynamic State Sharding. This feature enables the division of the network load into partitions in which the transactions’ validation can occur concurrently. This is crucial for making the network fees low, making the network larger, and constantly improving the interactions of every single user.

Shardeum also focuses on the decentralized and community-based model. Anyone can operate verify nodes in the network, including in the EMs. Thus, there can be a high level of coverage and maintain the integrity of the network structure by involving many more support that are geographically dispersed.

As Shardeum is going mainnet, it is prepared to revolutionize how blockchain networks approach scalability, security, and decentralization. These preparations involving the airdrop and the mainnet are significant steps toward a new phase for this revolutionary protocol.
