  • Cetus targets two key paths: a community vote or legal action.
  • Frozen Sui-based assets remain under validator control.
  • Full protocol recovery hinges on data restoration and ecosystem support.

Cetus has begun a transparent and structured approach to resolving a major protocol incident. After a breach led to the freezing of assets within the Sui ecosystem, the platform has issued a detailed update for its users. The new strategy indicates two principal aims.

First, Cetus pursues an on-chain Sui community vote for a legitimate recovery of tied funds. Second, we are weighing a whitehat resolution or legal action if we can track this hacker. On the Sui network, validators are keeping the assets frozen.

This freezes further movement and gives a window for strategic recovery. In addition, for assets bridged out of the ecosystem, primarily Ethereum, talks are being had with applicable partners. While that process will not happen at a moment’s notice, the team intends to share progress made on them shortly.

Cetus Repairs Systems and Tests Solutions

Protocol recovery is ongoing. Cetus says the underlying issue pertains to records loss from affected pools. Recovery for those records is challenging from a technical standpoint and time-consuming. After resolution, users are expected to resume having accurate records of their holdings.

There are a few services currently up. The Cetus aggregator, which doesn’t rely upon its liquidity pools, is live again. It now supports swaps from external liquidity sources such as Phantom and Binance Alpha.

Once they fully restore the correct data, the team will gradually return business to normal in pools unaffected by the breach. They assure users that full recovery remains their top priority, and they are channeling every resource toward this effort.

Cetus developers work non-stop. They are juggling pool data, fixing systems, and even testing out solutions to ensure a smooth transition towards full operating capabilities. The magnitude and delicacy of the task demand careful and gradual implementation.

Two Paths Forward for Fund Recovery

Concerns from community members regarding delays and silence have been explicitly clarified. Cetus says any update remains pending synchronization with the Sui Foundation and other stakeholders. It prefers any official statement to be backed by a solid plan, not hurried information.

Core team members have labored round the clock since the incident, putting a focus on recovering funds, fixing systems, and community engagement. We are considering two options to recover lost funds: ethical negotiation or legal action.

Meanwhile, the team is contemplating options for recovery through an election. Cetus is also designing user compensation plans based on how much can be recovered in the short run.

Cetus confirms its absolute commitment to recovering funds. We will utilize all means at our disposal to reduce losses. Though the road ahead is complicated, our team has made one thing certain: recovery isn’t just a hope, it’s a plan already underway.
