- Ethereum aims for faster and more predictable transactions through ETHGas and its new GWEI token.
- ETHGas introduces advanced execution to help apps cut delays and avoid sudden gas fee surges.
- The GWEI airdrop targets real users as ETHGas pushes its Realtime Ethereum model forward.
Ethereum is preparing for a major shift in how its blockspace is managed. ETHGas has announced the launch of GWEI, a governance token designed to support what the project calls Realtime Ethereum. The initiative aims to make transactions faster, more predictable, and easier for users and developers to manage.
ETHGas says Ethereum’s current system creates delays and unstable fees during busy periods. Users often face unpredictable gas costs because transactions compete in the mempool. These issues lead to congestion and slow execution when activity rises.
Reducing Ethereum Delays and Stabilizing Gas Fees
The project wants to change how applications access block space. ETHGas proposes a model that allows apps to secure execution in advance instead of competing at the last moment. The team says this method could lower delays and reduce sudden jumps in gas fees.
GWEI is the central governance token of the protocol. It gives holders the ability to vote on upgrades, system parameters, treasury decisions, and emergency proposals. The token is meant to guide the development of the platform through community participation.
Verified users with staked GWEI have voting power. The more extensive the staking period, the greater the influence. This, ETHGas says, fosters long-term participation and discourages short-term actions that might undermine governance.

GWEI Airdrop Set for 2026 With a Focus on Active Ethereum Users
The project calls its system a method of making blockspace more organized and predictable. ETHGas encourages Ethereum apps to plan their transaction fees more carefully. The idea is also to ensure smoother user experiences, particularly at times of peak network activity.
ETHGas will distribute the GWEI through a community airdrop known as The Genesis Harvest. The eligibility snapshot is set at January 19, 2026. The team announces that they will prioritize this distribution to real users based on their past gas spending and community engagement.
ETHGas believes that “live” Ethereum is likely finally making the transition from concept to deployment. Ultimately, though, the model can only work if developers and users show interest. The next few months will determine whether its new structure can better address how Ethereum handles blockspace.
