The Sharded Perpetual Exchange marks a breakthrough in decentralized finance on Solana. Its design brings together multiple components that work in harmony to deliver speed, transparency, and security across the Solana network.
Entirely on-chain, the system employs minuscule but mighty “slabs” as self-contained trading engines. Orders and liquidity are calculated by each slab with precision within an austere 10 MB threshold. Core to the system, the Router serves as the world controller. Collateral, margin calculation, and all user balances are all calculated by the Router.
This role differentiation secures safety. Slabs are unable to pull funds or abuse funds, as the Router processes all transactions through capability tokens setting boundaries. This configuration prevents unauthorized movements and eliminates the requirement for trusting between autonomous trading pools.
The Router also takes care of batching, matching, and liquidation processes along with granular controls.It uses time-based windows to match orders proportionally and minimize the risk of front-running. Each batch takes anywhere from 50 to 100 milliseconds and allows the makers an equal chance while eliminating the evil trading behaviors.
Security Forms the Core of Solana’s Sharded Perpetual

The Router never permits direct access to its vaults, and each trade follows the two-step process of reserve and commit. During the reservation, the system reserves the max charge and assigns slices of usable liquidity.
The commit step then caps the tradeoffwith verified prices and settled collateral. Margin and risk management both run locally and globally. Margin rules run on each slab, but the Router assesses exposure throughout all slabs.
This two-layer system avoids over-leverage and makes sure the dealers have sufficient equity to cover open positions. Liquidations also follow a strict protocol. The Router initially attempts to balance risk within slabs without initiating any forced sales. If required, the slabs carry out liquidations within predefined price boundaries, shielding markets from sudden price movements.
Sharded Exchange Achieves Unmatched Efficiency
Efficiency and dependability characterize the exchange’s performance. Up to 50,000 order inserts per second are processed by each slab with almost instantaneous response time. Reserve actions take under 200 microseconds to complete, and commits take half the millisecond under normal circumstances.
Comprehensive tests check every possible condition, from normal operations to failure and recovery. The system undergoes chaos testing, fuzzing, and economic simulations to confirm its resilience.
