- Lido’s Staking Router v3 aims to improve validator efficiency and stake allocation.
- SRv3 prepares Lido for Ethereum’s recent Pectra upgrade and EIP-7251.
- Direct deposits, consolidations, and smarter architecture form the foundation for liquid staking’s next phase.
Lido is entering a new phase with the development of Staking Router v3 (SRv3). This major update aligns with Ethereum’s latest Pectra upgrade, which includes EIP-7251. That upgrade allows validators to manage more than the previous 32 ETH limit.
Lido intends to utilize this change in making the operation of validators more effective. Validator consolidation lies at the core of this transition. Node Operators no longer need to manage various small validators but can consolidate all of these into bigger ones. This minimizes network overhead and boosts throughput in general.

This becomes technically possible and more operationally effective with v3 of Lido through the balance-based accounting model. This replaces the previous 32 ETH-per-validator unit system and makes Lido more flexible. SRv3 makes this process more streamlined. It introduces modular updates to the protocol through the Staking Router.
This router distributes stake and controls the operator participation. With SRv3, the Lido also enables selective direct deposits, so that these can go directly to selected modules or operators that are defined to fulfill pre-established criteria.
SRv3 Brings Smarter Stake Management to Lido
The SRv3 upgrade does more than simply pool together validators. It enables more sophisticated management of staking across Lido. Redeployment of stake will be made easier through new systems that make withdrawals and redeposts across modules possible. This harmonizes stake flow with performance and increases flexibility.
SRv3 also paves the way to direct deposits so that fresh ETH can more easily flow into the protocol. Although initially limited to authorized actors, this feature will in the future facilitate individual operators. It ensures that staking follows scheduled rules with bias towards high-performing, or community-favored actors.
The upgrade uses EasyTrack to roll out validator consolidations. EasyTrack offers a safe, governance-sanctioned protocol upgrade mechanism. This ensures that the upgrade remains secure and reduces the ease of execution complexity. Node Operators enjoy helpful tools to consolidate with Lido maintaining protocol integrity in place.
Lido Plans Validator Upgrade with SRv3
The Lido roadmap outlines clear priorities. Validator consolidation and then smart stake distribution and direct deposit distribution are these priorities. They are designed to make the system more efficient and more decentralized. They are also reducing risk through distribution of the stake to more entities and rationalizing operations.
The mission of the Lido DAO is to complete SRv3 in the first half of 2026. When live, it will be a watershed moment in the staking realm of Ethereum. Long-term, the vision of Lido is a liquid staking system that remains safe, scalable, and in step with the evolution of Ethereum. SRv3 brings the protocol closer to that future with a more intelligent and resilient base.
