Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has spoken out strongly against rising hostility between Bitcoin and XRP supporters. He spoke about unity on stage during the XRP Las Vegas event.
In his presentation to the group, Garlinghouse emphasized the significant changes Ripple wants to create in global finance. In a clip Ripple shared with @edward_farina on X, he said the industry may not fully realize how much needs to be done to update the banking system.

Relations deteriorated further after Senator Cynthia Lummis refused to meet with Garlinghouse. As chair of the Senate Digital Assets Subcommittee, Lummis has outwardly supported Bitcoin. Therefore, Garlinghouse told Jerome Powell to ensure that all cryptocurrencies, not only Bitcoin, are accounted for by the Federal Reserve.
There was a fast and straightforward answer opposing Lummis’s opinion among the XRP community. People pointed out a 2022 Tweet by Will Cole, who called XRP a “centralized joke of a scam.” This resulted in even more mistrust between both sides, making the existing differences even larger.
Artwork Donation and Policy Rift Intensify Crypto Divisions
To add to the problems, Ripple gave the “Skull of Satoshi” artwork to a Bitcoin museum in Nashville. There was intense criticism because the piece appeared to be an attack on the Bitcoin mining industry, which made people even more against Ripple’s actions.
Ripple is also involved in disagreements over federal policies. Reports say that the company was not in favor of a policy putting Bitcoin as the singular cryptocurrency in U.S. reserves. As per Politico’s report, after the incident, a pro-XRP lobbyist was no longer seated at White House discussions.
During his speech, he told the audience that squabbling inside the industry prevents it from reaching its potential. He said that XRP is not a threat to Bitcoin, and both can succeed independently.
He underlined the importance of hands-on cooperation across the industry as regulations tighten. Garlinghouse’s mission should be to unite the community behind cryptocurrency innovation.
With new rules appearing, Garlinghouse’s caution regarding inside conflicts stresses the importance of joining efforts. His words show he is trying to bring the crypto industry together before more disagreements slow it down.
