  • Ripple commits $25 million in stablecoin to support small businesses and veterans.
  • Funding will expand lending, training, and career opportunities across the U.S.
  • Partnerships are expected to generate $1 billion in overall economic impact.

Ripple, a financial technology company, has pledged $25 million to strengthen opportunities for small business owners and veterans. The donation will go to Accion Opportunity Fund and Hire Heroes USA. Both nonprofits will use Ripple USD (RLUSD), the company’s stablecoin backed by the U.S. dollar.

The commitment aims to provide underserved entrepreneurs with capital, online platforms, and education. At the same time, it will provide career paths for military spouses and veterans. The program has been launched while thousands of small firms are denied funding and thousands of service personnel are leaving life in the forces and entering into unemployment.

Ripple’s latest action follows a similar January donation of $25 million. Together, these donations reflect the long-standing commitment by the company to digital finance-driven economic opportunity.

Ripple Helps Veterans Transition to the Civilian Workforce

Small businesses comprise nearly half of the American workforce and generate more than 40 percent of the nation’s GDP. Despite this, many owners struggle to gain access to capital to scale. Accion Opportunity Fund is a national nonprofit lender. It will Channel Ripple’s funds into low-cost loans and education. The grant will be expected to catalyze $125 million in lending impact.

For veterans, the challenge is acclimating to the post-military workforce. Annually, nearly 200,000 service members transition from active duty, and yet the vast majority are unemployed. Hire Heroes USA will be using Ripple’s assistance to create job opportunities among veterans and their families.

The organization will launch a Fintech Pathways program to prepare participants to join careers in the financial technology sector. Collectively, these programs aim to generate over $1 billion in impact within societies.

RLUSD Brings Speed and Transparency to Charity Funds

The donation is being brokered by The Giving Block, an online platform through which nonprofits are able to accept cryptocurrency donations. Support through Uphold, an online trading platform, will enable the two nonprofits to manage crypto wallets and remit funds directly.

Use of the RLUSD stablecoin facilitates fast and clean payment as opposed to traditional payments. The system facilitates the distribution of resources quickly and at reduced costs to communities. Besides disbursals of funds, the program also grants nonprofits hands-on digital asset management experience to empower them to prepare for an increasingly technology-driven world.

Ripple’s broader mission extends well beyond this gift. The company funded DonorsChoose and Teach For America earlier in the year with a $25 million RLUSD grant to enhance education programs. These initiatives show how stablecoins will reorganize giving by disbursing funds in an efficient fashion while encouraging innovation within nonprofit programs.

Through collaboration with Accion Opportunity Fund and Hire Heroes USA, Ripple is aiding short-term requirements as well as long-term programs, inspiring growth, stability, and opportunity within the U.S. economy.
