Ripple’s legal chief, Stuart Alderoty, has warned the crypto community about a rising wave of scams using artificial intelligence and impersonation. In his opinion, scammers are becoming more intelligent in their approaches to mislead XRP and persuade investors into false investing programs.
Such cons can involve posing as Ripple executives, especially CEO Brad Garlinghouse, with authentic-sounding social media profiles. Fraudsters will then market fake XRP airdrops under the pretense that Ripple supports them.
Voice cloning based on AI has become commonplace in some of these fraudulent campaigns, imitating the voice of a company’s leaders. This technology introduces another layer of deceit, making fake content sound more realistic.
Along with AI tools, other scam methods are present on crypto platforms. These comprise phishing links, pump-and-dump frauds, and long-term scams referred to as pig butchering. All these are created to rob them of money by manipulation or fraud.
AI-Enhanced Scams Raise New Concerns for XRP Community
Ripple has indicated that it does not host or sponsor giveaways. The firm has advised users to mark any XRP reward or promotion claims as fraudulent.
Alderoty posted six recommendations to help users remain safe. He wrote that one should never share their private keys or recovery phrases, even with seemingly trustworthy sources.
There is also a word of caution regarding unsolicited links or texts. In cases where financial transactions are involved, the users are advised to ensure that everything is in order and take action.
Such traps can be avoided by conducting adequate research and verifying authenticity using official Ripple channels. The majority of scams go via unofficial networks that appear genuine but are wholly counterfeit.
Ripple admits that despite these threats, the number of victims is not very high. What has been the result? Less than 1 percent of American crypto users have encountered scams or hacking.
Ripple is still watching threats and keeps educating the community to minimize exposure to fraud. The company has kept its user base in mind and charted a clear path against both conventional scammers and emerging AI-related threats.
The activity of scamming XRP holders is evolving. Ripple is urging users to be more cautious and responsible in order to keep up with the fraud.
