  • Sui Overflow 2025 saw 599 project submissions from 85 countries, with 46 total winners.
  • Entertainment and AI led in submission volume, proving Sui’s mass appeal and technical depth.
  • A strong community voting process engaged over 195,000 votes to help select the winners.

The Sui Overflow Hackathon 2025 wrapped up after a months-long showcase of creativity and technical skill. Builders from 85 countries submitted nearly 600 projects, signaling the strength and diversity of the Sui ecosystem.

Competition comprised nine tracks as well as a specialized university course. 46 winners were chosen out of highly qualified participants, robbing the winners of anywhere between $2,500 and $30,000. Competitors began their journey as early as February.

The process of building went through April and May, followed by the demo sessions and judging. Applications were diverse, ranging from AI-featured protocols to privacy-oriented tools to gamified DeFi platforms.

Gamified Apps and Degen Tools Stand Out

The hackathon proved the capabilities of Sui to power next-gen applications. Entries were mostly for the track of Entertainment and Culture. Blockchain was used by developers to re-imagine social interactions, art, and gaming. AI followed, which proves the rising demands for cognitive systems and instruments, as well as Web3.

In AI, “Synthetic” led the way by generating provably synthetic data and offering a safe marketplace for datasets. Among other robust offerings were OpenGraph’s decentralized machine-learning platforms and Hyvve’s token-based AI data marketplace. Also prominent was the Cryptography track, as ZeroLeaks enabled anonymous sharing of documents via the use of zero-knowledge proofs.

The DeFi lane had module-oriented vaults, permanent exchanges, and stablecoin instruments that were anchored on Bitcoin. “Magma Finance” had a single layer offering yield optimization through AI-based strategies. Meanwhile, the Degen category emerged with gaming platforms such as “MoonBags” and courtroom-style entertainment through “Objection! AI.”

Infrastructure-related projects like “SuiSQL” and “Suipulse” set developers up with rock-solid foundations. Payment and wallet projects were also in the limelight, as stealth address utils and distribution platforms opened the door to easy-to-use experiences.

Why Audits Still Matter in Sui’s Secure System

Ten winning university teams introduced new ideas to the limelight. They pioneered AR gaming, decentralized messaging, federated learning platforms, and crowdsourcing applications. Those students demonstrated campus energy propelling real-world innovation.

Sponsors such as Wormhole, Alibaba Cloud, and Pyth were key. They helped make the event inclusive and resource rich. Community engagement came in handy as well. 28 individuals emerged as Community Award winners as their picks came incredibly close to the official judges’ recommendations, with a total of 195,000 participants voting.

In past few months, SUI revealed that securing the web3 requires cooperation, and audits are a significant process. They don’t merely scrutinize the code, yet they are also helping the teams become more assured through the provision of explicit remarks and facilitating the identification of issues at an early stage.

Notwithstanding the fact that the Move programming language and an excellent data system employed by Sui already do a lot to thwart common issues like a double spend or certain bugs, audits are nonetheless highly relevant.

They enable the discovery of latent issues with the logic of applications, particularly when applications are very large or utilize numerous smart contracts. Sui facilitates the same by enabling the easy sharing of code as well as audit reports directly on the blockchain by the developers.
