United States President Donald Trump is set to make history by addressing Blockworks’ Digital Asset Summit (DAS) in New York on March 20. This marks the first time a sitting U.S. president has spoken at a cryptocurrency conference. Blockworks confirmed the news in a March 19 announcement, underscoring a significant shift in the U.S. government’s stance on digital assets.

Trump’s move contrasts with former President Joe Biden’s regulatory crackdown on the crypto industry. Biden’s administration took over 100 regulatory actions against the sector. Trump assumed office on January 20 and went on to aggressively move to establish a pro-crypto environment by signing executive orders to offer regulatory clarity, establishing a White House crypto advisory board, and creating a U.S. Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and Digital Asset Stockpile.
“When we began Blockworks, we were struggling to get someone at a bank to come to an event,” explained Jason Yanowitz, co-founder of Blockworks, in a March 19 X platform post. “Now we have a sitting U.S. President speaking to 2,500 institutional players. It is amazing how far this space has come.
When we started Blockworks we could barely get someone from a bank to attend an event.

Furthermore, Trump’s adoption of digital assets was evident in his 2024 presidential campaign, with him speaking at Bitcoin 2024 in Nashville, Tennessee, to make America the “world’s crypto capital.” He also hinted at establishing a national Bitcoin reserve, something he has since followed up on with the creation of the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve.”
Trump Crypto Comeback SEC Drops Ripple Case Blockworks
The crypto space has already experienced tremendous alterations since Trump’s return to power. His government has appointed pro-industry leaders to top regulatory roles such as at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and at the Treasury Department.
Along with that, Ripple Labs CEO Brad Garlinghouse made a historic announcement at the Digital Asset Summit on March 19. He revealed that the SEC had dropped its long-running enforcement action against the blockchain firm The agency has also dropped such allegations against Coinbase, Kraken, and Uniswap. This marks a contrast to the aggressive regulatory style of the Biden era.
Bo Hines, executive director of the President’s Council of Advisers on Digital Assets, spoke at the Digital Asset Summit earlier this week. He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to supporting crypto innovation.
While Blockworks has not announced what Trump will discuss specifically, market leaders anticipate he will address key crypto issues. These include stablecoin regulations and cryptocurrency taxation. The White House and Hines’ offices did not respond to Cointelegraph’s query at publication time.
Moreover, as Trump takes the stage virtually at Blockworks’ DAS, the crypto community watches with anticipation. Many are eager to see what path his administration will take in developing the U.S. digital asset ecosystem
