The @MAS_sg has approved an expanded scope of payment activities for our Major Payment Institution license – enabling us to deliver end-to-end, fully licensed payment services to our customers in the region. 🇸🇬
Ripple President Monica Long emphasized the progressive attitude to regulation in Singapore, which she says contributes to innovation. Through the adoption of a regulation-first approach, Ripple has remained focused on compliance, and the extended license provides increased freedom in providing efficient payment services.
Ripple Payments Streamlines Cross-Border Transactions
Ripple Payments uses digital payment tokens (DPTs), including RLUSD and XRP, in order to transact across boundaries. An end-to-end solution is such that the businesses can make payments promptly without incurring a massive investment in infrastructure. The extensive platform offered by Ripple simplifies the process of operating the company, including the collection and payout processes under one integration.
This growth is also accompanied by the fact that the Asia-Pacific region is witnessing massive growth of digital asset usage, with on-chain activity growing by 70 percent annually. Singapore is leading this expansion, and the increased services of Ripple will facilitate the financial institutions that are spearheading this change, which will offer quicker and more effective payment services.
Ripple footprint Singapore Ripple has historically used Singapore as one of the key regions of its global strategy since it set up its Asia-Pacific headquarters in 2017. Under the extended MPI license, Ripple will be in a perfect position to keep helping finance the ecosystem of the region and secure a stronger place in the global payment space of the blockchain-enabled population.
