- Ripple expands its GenAI team following XRPL autonomous payment rollout.
- XRPL now enables AI agents to transact using XRP independently.
- New Ripple hiring signals deeper focus on agentic AI infrastructure.
Ripple is building up its AI team as it prepares to support independent payments between AI agents on the XRP Ledger soon. The XRPL recently added features for AI systems to transact on the blockchain without relying on humans by using XRP and Ripple USD (RLUSD).
The position is that of a Staff Software Engineer in the Generative AI Platform at the company in which the role follows release of XRPL version 3.2.0, which introduced the capability for users to make XRPL payments with the X402-powered payments.
The new functionality will enable AI agents to use on-chain payments for APIs, compute resources, and other digital services. This translates to an application environment where developers can develop applications that automate decision-making and payment execution within a single environment.
Although Ripple hasn’t explicitly tied the job opportunity to the recent upgrade of the XRPL, the role’s responsibilities align with the technology the XRPL supports for autonomous payment systems. So, the recruitment process has attracted the attention of people from the XRP community.

Ripple Strengthens Internal AI Capabilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing agentic AI systems at production scale, according to a job posting by Ripple. This role will focus on developing technologies for interacting multiple AI agents to coordinate tasks and operate efficiently.
Besides, the engineer will get to be involved in runtime environments, evaluation frameworks, developer tools and security controls. These are extremely critical for the trustworthy working of AI systems, particularly within the area of financial transactions.
Moreover, Ripple’s focus on security highlights the increasing need for robust security solutions as AI-powered applications become more sophisticated. As such, the company seems to be more interested in laying foundations for the infrastructure that will be required for large-scale adoption of automated payment services.
XRPL Pushes Further Into Machine-to-Machine Commerce
The launch of the XRP Ledger for payments powered by the X402 chip is another step towards machine-to-machine commerce. AI agents are now able to handle transactions by themselves, eliminating the need for manual authorizations in some digital interactions.
Additionally, the payment structure is not limited to XRP and offers flexibility for developers looking to create applications on top of the network, such as RLUSD. This capability can be used for various applications such as automated access to software tools, cloud computing resources, and digital content.
Ripple’s recruitment is part of its initiative to broaden its offerings into AI-powered payments. This recruitment move and network upgrade highlight the firm’s commitment to connecting AI with blockchain-powered financial systems.
